Special Edition: Earth Day Cooking

We have been cooking for Earth Day.

Oh yes.

Dirt Soup.

Lawn Salad.

And Flower Stew.

Oh my.

Noah loves whipping up picnics and snacks in his play kitchen. And my real one. Now that we are outside so much, he has been passionate about his outdoor recipes. We’ve all been liking the funny backyard recipes from this sweet old book:

With recipes like this:

And this:

We’ve set up a makeshift outdoor kitchen with our plastic toy sink and the hose box (see above, with soup). After some looking around, I’m dreaming of something grander, like this beauty from b.organic.

This rustic tree-trunk kitchen from Rhythm of The Home is more likely for us.

Happily, I have just the sawed up tree trunks waiting to be rolled up our steep yard.

The preschool outdoor kitchen featured on Let The Children Play includes a wood shaving station and areas to cook with pebbles and wet sand.

Muffin tins (like these from The Write Start) would be a blast for my kids. And I need a new ladle and tongs anyway.

Now, go take care of our world, okay?
